Co-vid 19 Appeal

*UPDATE: 04/07/2020 CURRENT TOTAL IS £6000*
I don't need to tell you all that we are currently living in unprecedented times and that many of our favourite heritage railways are facing a very uncertain challenging future. Here at Tony's Trains of Rugby we are a great supporter and user of heritage railways and want to do our bit to help them at this time of potential crisis.
As some of you will know I regularly attend photo charters organised by 30742 Charters and indeed have been involved in the organising and running of charters. Martin Creese who runs the charters recently came to me with a proposal to help to raise money for 14 (now 19! Edit 04/07/2020 we are now up to 30, final list information pending from Martin) railways who have been affected during this time. The initial railways on the list are:
The Battlefield Railway
Chasewater Railway
Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway
East Anglian Railway Museum
East Somerset Railway
Ecclesbourne Valley Railway
Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Steam Railway
Gwilli Railway
Keighley & Worth Valley Railway
Kent & East Sussex Railway
Lynton & Barnstaple Railway
Severn Valley Railway
Spa Valley Railway
Swanage Railway
NEWLY ADDED: Midland Railway - Butterley
NEWLY ADDED: Nene Valley Railway
NEWLY ADDED: Amerton Railway
NEWLY ADDED: Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway
NEWLY ADDED: Vintage Trains
The list is made up of railways that have hosted or were due to host 30742 in recent times. More railways may be added as funding allows.
We think this is a very worthy cause and to support it Tony's Trains of Rugby will make a donation from the profits of every sale of a brand new locomotive during the period of the fund raising appeal.
To make a donation direct to the fund please follow this link to donate via PayPal or send a cheque payable to 30742 Charters to 20 Portia Avenue, Shirley, Solihull, B90 2NW. For more information on the appeal or 30742 events in general please email Martin at

Both myself and Martin hope you will join us in supporting this cause and that we can raise as much money as we can to help our heritage railways. We will try and keep you updated as regularly as possible with news of monies raised.
Note: Many of you will probably notice the absence of the Great Central Railway from the list, there are two reasons for this. One being they do not currently have a working relationship with 30742 Charters and two being that at present they do not have a Co-vid 19 appeal in place. If the later should change then Tony's Trains of Rugby will directly contribute part of their fund raising to that cause as well as to the appeal in association with 30742 Charters.
